DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR: THE GOLDEN PUFFIN
The thirteen films in our competitive category New Visions are all debut or sophomore efforts. One will be named Discovery of the Year and receive the Golden Puffin.
Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir
Auður Ava is a an Icelandic writer and professor of art history. Her latest novel, Scar (Ör), received the Icelandic literary prize in 2016.

Sol Bondy is a multi award-winning producer based in Berlin.
A DIFFERENT TOMORROW
For the seventh time a film from the A Different Tomorrow category will be awarded. Eleven films are included in this section this year.
Jason Gorber is a Toronto-based film journalist and critic with over two decades of experience writing about the moving image.
Ragnheiður is a co-artistic director of LÓKAL International Theatre Festival.
Herbert is an awarded film producer and director.
SHORT FILM AWARDS
Short film awards go to the Best Icelandic Short and Best International Short.

Fahad Jabali has been working in the film business since 1987.
Ásdis Sif Gunnarsdóttir
Ásdís is an artist who has shown her works at various events such as Berlinale.
Ari is a filmmaker and also the director of Air d’Islande in Paris amongst other film related work.
The Golden Egg is awarded to the best short at Reykjavík Talent Lab
Grimur Hakonarson studied film making in FAMU, Prag. Grimur’s new feature film, Rams, won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes in 2015.
Janus Bragi Jakobsson
Janus Bragi is documentary filmmaker. He has, amongst other film related works, been a programmer for Nordisk Panorama film festival.
