Emre Akay was born in 1978 in Ankara’da. In 2004 Akay co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed A Film By Tuğra Kaftancıoğlu. In 2013 it was voted the all-time second favorite film at IF Istanbul and included in the Istanbul Film Festival’s 100th year Turkish Cinema Retrospective. Akay also made the award-winning shorts A Simple Truth, Red Alert and Byzantine Game. A Simple Truth was listed amongst the 10 best shorts of the last 10 years by the Ankara Cinema Association. Akay’s shorts have been screened in more than 40 festivals around the world including in Sarajevo, Rotterdam, Beirut, Vienna, Vancouver, Valencia and Transylvania.
