Ninna Pálmadóttir is an award-winning Icelandic filmmaker. She graduated with an MFA in film directing/screenwriting from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2019. She grew up in a small town in north Iceland, surrounded by magnificent and raw scenes of nature that formed her style and personality in the arts. Ninna has written and directed several short films in Iceland and New York.
Her short film Paperboy (2019) has screened at numerous film festivals around the world, after premiering at the 45th Seattle International Film Festival where it won an audience award. In 2019 Paperboy won the ‘Best Icelandic Short’ award at the Reykjavík International Film Festival, the ‘Best Fiction Short’ at Euro shorts Young Filmmakers in Poland, and was selected to screen at TIFF’s Short Cuts: Share Her Journey Shorts event. Ninna was a participant at the European Short Pitch 2019 initiative with her thesis script All Dogs Die and received a grant in 2019 from the Spike Lee Production Fund for the same project. Ninna’s first feature-length film is currently in development.
