Philipp Yuryev is a director and screenwriter born in Moscow in 1990. Philipp hates the unnecessary gloss of advertising and anamorphic lenses. Philipp loves mom. He made his first ‘action flick’ film in school, of watermelon explosions for his Chemistry exam. His first commercial project, The First Jump, was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick and his first short film, The Song of the Mechanical Fish, made it to the Sundance Film Festival while also receiving awards in Montréal, Berlin, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo. The Whaler Boy is his debut full feature film.
