Engeli Broberg is driven by human interest themes and topics such as loneliness, exclusion and identity. In her film HAPPY END she explores these matters by following characters at Nordic elderly homes. In THE LAST DANCE she explores similar themes through the perspective of retired dancers who solely identified with their former profession, and in GABI, through the perspective of a child that refuses to be put in a box. Coming from a family of dancers, Engeli has a sharp eye for movement displayed through the body and her dance films have been screened at festivals in Europe and the US. She believes that the moments before we speak are usually the strongest and much more telling than anything verbalized. Therefore silence, reactions and body language are always important in her storytelling.
