The SMART7 Film Competition kicks off today with the first screening of the year's entries at the Vilnius International Film Festival, Pavasaris, in Lithuania. The competition will travel across Europe, with the full programme screened at each SMART7 Alliance film festival.<\/p>\n

About SMART7<\/p>\n

The SMART7 organization<\/a> were founded in 2023 and form and shape a collaborative platform for seven prestigious film festivals across Europe, including the Reykjav\u00edk International Film Festival, RIFF. The organization is funded by the European Union project Creative Europe- MEDIA.<\/a> The festival aims to celebrate the diverse film industry, strengthen and enhance connections between different cultures, and share the stories of filmmakers across the continent. It also aims to support and promote new filmmakers on an international stage.
\nEach of the seven festivals will select one film to enter the competition, which will be screened in their home countries. After the screenings, a jury composed of representatives from each country will select the winner, who will receive a cash prize of \u20ac5,000.<\/p>\n
