He was one of the Great Masters of photography, a legend. Elegant, playful, inventive, provocative, inspirational – and himself inspired by sharp observation and the deep roots of his childhood in Berlin of the 1920s. Berlin was him, and he was Berlin. And Helmut Newton still has a kind of cult status beyond the art world – even to this day, 14 years after his tragic death in Los Angeles. In 2020 he would have become 100 years old.
