Based on actual events, a fisherman tries to survive in the freezing ocean after his boat capsizes off the south coast of Iceland. The film is based on the unique story of Guðlaugur Friðþjófsson, who had to swim ashore for several hours in the freezing ocean, and then walk a long way in rocky lava fields before he got to settlements. Guðlaugur’s endurance attracted worldwide attention and became a mystery to scientists.
