The film is based on the unique story of Guðlaugur Friðþjófsson, who had to swim ashore for several hours in the freezing ocean, and then walk a long way in rocky lava fields before he got to settlements. Guðlaugur’s endurance attracted worldwide attention and became a mystery to scientists.
