Sophie Ellsberg is a writer/director and actress born and raised in New York City, the daughter of a painter and a poet. Her first short film, Old Habits, has screened at festivals internationally including Woods Hole Film Festival and Reykjavik International Film Festival, among others. She is currently in post-production on an experimental short entitled Welcome Dear Soul. In addition to two completed feature scripts she is developing a pilot with equity investments. As an actress she has performed all over the world, from Bath, England to Louisville, KY, in work ranging from Shakespeare to Puppet Operas, and acted in films that have screened in festivals internationally, including Sundance. She holds an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater School and a BA from Barnard college, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude.
