Laurynas Bareiša (b. 1988) holds a bachelor’s degree in both applied mathematics from Vilnius University and cinematography from Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2016 he finished his studies for a master’s degree in film directing. His first short film “Dembava” was nominated for Lithuanian Film Academy award as the Best Lithuanian student film in 2015 and was amongst the Cineuropa Top 5 European Shorts of 2014. The second short film “The Camel” had a world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival and was also nominated for the Best Lithuanian student film in 2017. The third short film “By the Pool” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and won Lithuanian Film Academy award as the best short film of 2018. Bareiša’s newest short film “Caucasus” will have world premiere at Locarno International Film Festival.
