RIFF 2017 Honorary Guest: Werner Herzog
Reykjavík International Film Festival, in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Dänemark, is extremely pleased to announce Werner Herzog as an honorary guest. One of cinema’s supreme filmmakers he made his name during the late 60s in his native Germany where he became a leading figure in Neuer Deutscher Film period, along with directors such as Volker Schlöndorff and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
Herzog has directed 19 feature films and 29 full length documentaries, known for their unique narrative, challenging subjects and unpredictable outcomes.
RIFF is now finalizing a selection of films to be screened at this years festival, one of them being Fitzcarraldo (1982) which US film critic Roger Ebert frequently called “one of the best films in history.”
Herzog will lead a masterclass, taking place Saturday 30th September, an event which where a limited number of tickets is available. Please secure your spot here.
