The 17th Reykjavík International Film Festival Launch

RIFF 2020 is excited to announce its 17th festival to be launched on 24th of September. This year we will explore new technology and us it to bring quality cinema to an even wider audience by online screening.

Guests will also be able to enjoy Q&A, discussions, and more with online events. Industry Days will be held in the Nordic House and other screenings and events planned according to the current situation.

This year´s programme will be filled with high-quality films related to current and controversial topics. The Head of Programming this year is Frédéric Boyer. Boyer has been the Artistic Director of the Tribeca Film Festival since 2012, and of the Les Arcs European Film Festival since 2009. Prior to that he was the Artistic Director of the Director´s Fortnight at Cannes for two years, after 6 years as a senior programmer in the Fortnight´s Selection Committee.

European films will be highlighted this year due to European Film Awards being presented in Iceland this December. Furthermore, RIFF will host screenings following up to EFA and building a bridge to European cinema.

Guests will be able to access the films through the same platform used in many well-known film festivals such as Copenhagen Pix, Locarno Film Festival, and Sundance Film Festival.
