Around eighty films are already confirmed for RIFF 2024 and many more are joining the selection. Including films that have received prestigious awards at film festivals abroad, such as:
“Pepe” by Nelson Carlos De Los Santos Arias, which was screened in a competing category at the Berlinale and received special recognition from the jury. The movie is about Pepe “The first and last hippopotamus killed in America,” who appears as a ghost and tells his story.

“78 Days” by Emilija Gašić, which was screened at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam (IFFR) and recieved the Tiger Award for best new film. The film is a tender coming-of-age story of people in a war-torn country.

“Crossing” by Levan Akin, which was screened at Berlinale and received the Teddy Awars for outstanding contribution to LGBTQ+ film. The main theme of the film deals with the experience of gay people in Turkey.

“Grand Tour” by Miguel Gomes, which was screened at Cannes and won the FIPRESCI award. The film is a story of fate and love, and the setting is the First World War.

“A New Kind of Wilderness”, an award-winning Norwegian film by Silje Evensmo Jacobsen, which tells the story of a family living in the wilderness who experiences a traumatic incident and has to return to technologically-driven society. The film was, among others, a hit at the Sundance Film Festival.
