RIFF invites you to a screening of the Japanese comedy Tampopo in collaboration with Reykjavík's beloved ramen restaurant, Ramen Momo. Come and allow all of your senses to experience the magic of Japanese food culture.
In this humorous paean to the joys of food, a pair of truck drivers happen upon a decrepit roadside shop selling ramen noodles. The widowed owner, Tampopo, begs them to help her turn her establishment into a paragon of the “art of noodle-soup making”. Interspersed are satirical vignettes about the importance of food to different aspects of human life.
Included in the price is a tasting experience inspired by Tampopo, featuring ramen and snacks, along with a ticket to the Tampopo screening. Sweet Japanese treats will also be available for purchase.
Ramen Momo is Reykjavík’s first ramen house, serving handmade noodles and dumplings in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Established in 2014, it is renowned for its rich broths, vegan and gluten-free options, and use of fresh local ingredients. Since last year, the restaurant has operated two locations—the original on Tryggvagata and a new branch on Bankastræti—both offering an authentic comfort food experience.
