JOIN THE TEAM
Are you passionate about film and looking for your first experience in the world of events and film in Iceland? Do you want to be part of the production and organization of one of the largest film festivals in Iceland?
At RIFF, we offer opportunities to gain hands-on experience and learn alongside our team. If this sounds interesting to you and you're ready to make a commitment, consider becoming an intern or volunteer for RIFF 2026!
RIFF takes place at the end of September each year in the city of Reykjavik, a cultural hub in the land of thermal pools, waterfalls, and striking glaciers.
VOLUNTEERING
Are you interested in helping a world-class festival grow, watching great films and improving your professional skills at the same time? Then you should join us as a festival volunteer! Various tasks need to be carried out, such as organising special events, helping at the cinema and screenings, taking care of the guests and awarded personalities, and distributing information online or in the real world.
Our humble festival could not take place successfully each year without the unconditional support of the many volunteers that join us each year. We want your help!
"RIFF brings a much-needed breath of fresh air to the film industry by successfully celebrating diversity, valuing innovation and bringing impactful and thought-provoking stories to the forefront. I am grateful to have contributed to such an inclusive and dynamic festival and helped get us a step closer to a brighter future for cinema."
Marie-Lys Roche, RIFF intern 2024
INTERNSHIP
RIFF is looking for interns to join us at the office in Reykjavik. There is a myriad of interesting tasks that we need support with, and as an intern, you will become an essential part of the team, being involved in many aspects of the festival.
The tasks include organisation, production, communication with filmmakers, companies, venues and other partners, and many more.
We accept interns three times a year for either three or six month placements. The application deadlines are January 10, 2026 for those who want to take part in the festival's preparation. February 2, 2026 for those who want to be involved in the entire festival process, from April to October. May 11, 2026 for those who want to join the festival's production and operations, from July to October. The internship is unpaid, but there is an opportunity to be offered a position after the internship concludes.
These internships are great for newcomers in the film industry. Our goal is to provide a colourful taste of what it takes to organise and produce a film festival while working in a fun and interesting environment. All interns also get a festival pass, which gives access to all screenings at the festival.
