Fado Bicha is a Lisbon-based duo bringing a bold new voice to one of Portugal’s most beloved musical traditions, fado. Singer Lila Fadista and guitarist João Caçador blend tradition with the contemporary, exploring themes of identity, gender and social change. Their performances are emotional and theatrical, where the heritage of fado meets new stories and perspectives.
Fado emerged in Lisbon in the 19th century and is characterised by longing, melancholy and the Portuguese concept of saudade. Fado Bicha see the tradition as a living art form in constant evolution.
Half an hour before the concert, at 8:00 PM, Portuguese acclaimed actress Maria de Medeiros will receive the RIFF Honorary Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement. Ticket holders are warmly invited to attend the award ceremony.
