We are excited to share two updates from the SMART7 network!

Fríða Dís Möller represented Iceland in the SMART7 Jury
Fríða Dís Möller has been selected to represent Iceland in the international jury of the Smart7 Competition, held at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
She joined six other young jury members from partnering countries, who chose the winning film, awarded €5,000.
A newly graduated film student from Reykjavík, Fríða Dís plans to continue her studies abroad. During her time in school, she worked on various projects and is especially proud of her graduation short film, which she wrote and directed.

“Hanami” wins the Smart7 Award
This year’s Smart7 Award for Best Film has been presented in Thessaloniki, and the winner is Hanami by Denise Fernandes.
The film was praised “for its originality and its decolonial perspective. With a magical-realist sensibility, the director follows a young girl reflecting on Cabo Verde’s past, present, and future — revealing the story of a community shaped by centuries of imperial domination.”
RIFF’s contribution to the competition category this year was Missir (Epilogues) by Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon.
