Industry days
Do not miss out on Industry Days 2023! Take note of October 4-8, 2023, when professionals from the film industry worldwide come together for creative discussions and idea generation.
The main objective of Industry Days is to draw attention to the achievements in Icelandic filmmaking, build bridges between countries, and share ideas and projects.
During these days, a group of film industry professionals gather to share their experiences. The event also aims to create a new space for idea development and to promote the distribution and presentation of the Icelandic film industry.
Industry Days at RIFF encourage meetings, discussions, and dialogue that support the establishment of solid ground for people’s creative ideas. World-class speakers from international sales and distribution agencies come and deliver lectures related to current issues in the film industry.
Industry Days at RIFF celebrate all aspects of film production through events such as RIFF Talks, Producer’s Day, Young Talent Center, Work in Progress (WIP), Nordic Panels, and the Icelandic Market Forum (AGS). All of these activities are driven by the love for films.
What to expect at Industry Days 2023:
RIFF Talks:
A series of curated and sophisticated presentations by film industry professionals who wish to share their experiences and perspectives. The goal is to educate, inspire, and encourage filmmakers, particularly young talents. RIFF Talks are in the spirit of TED Talks but focus solely on filmmaking. They aim to challenge decision-makers to reconsider and familiarize themselves with important film-related issues on a regular basis.
Producer’s Day:
A day dedicated to professionals involved in film production, where experts from the Nordic countries, France, and beyond share their insights and discuss the challenges and changes facing the field.
Work in Progress:
In collaboration with the Icelandic Film Centre, RIFF will hold an event dedicated to new Icelandic works in progress. Works from the Faroe Islands and Greenland will also be discussed.
Roundtable discussions and masterclasses:
Each year, emphasis is placed on Nordic films and projects from the Northern regions. The goal is to showcase at least one film from each Nordic country and have their directors participate in roundtable discussions focusing on Nordic and Northern issues.
Structured discussions cover topics that are at the forefront of international filmmaking.
Tours and events:
Organized social events and trips are designed to bring together and connect professionals in the film industry. Guests also have the opportunity to get to know Icelandic companies.
Iceland: A Filmmaker’s Paradise!
The Icelandic film and television industry has grown fast in the last few years, producing films, documentaries and TV Series with international reach and appreciation. Being between Europe and the US, Iceland is the perfect place for local and international film professionals to meet and develop creative and groundbreaking stories together.
