This year’s RIFF Lit Flick screening is Pride and Prejudice, which took the world by storm when it was released in 2005 and continues to be hugely popular today. Like the novel it is based on, the film, directed by Joe Wright, has become a timeless classic. The film received four Academy Award nominations, including a nomination for Keira Knightley for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet.
The screening is presented in collaboration with the Jane Austen Fan Club of Iceland. Kristín Linda Jónsdóttir, psychologist and chair of the club, will explore Jane Austen and ask: What is it about her work that continues to resonate with audiences today? Literary scholar and translator of Pride and Prejudice, Silja Aðalsteinsdóttir, will discuss the novel.
Guests are invited to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine at the start of the screening. Join us in raising a glass to one of the greatest love stories of all time – and experience the magic of Pride and Prejudice on the big screen.
Please note that the conversation between Kristín and Silja will be conducted in Icelandic.
