Nordic Premiere of Wicker
Alexander Skarsgård will attend the Nordic premiere of Wicker at RIFF and will give a short address to the audience before the screening. The screening will take place at Háskólabíó on Tuesday, September 29 at 7:00 PM.
Skarsgård will also receive the RIFF 2026 Honorary Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement and will address the audience at the screening.
This is a unique opportunity to see Skarsgård’s latest film on the big screen and experience the acclaimed actor in person.
Alexander Skarsgård is one of Sweden’s best-known and most highly regarded actors. Over the past two decades, he has built a diverse and international career, working both in Swedish cinema and in major international productions.
Born in Stockholm on August 25, 1976, Skarsgård began acting at a young age, appearing in Swedish films and television productions. He studied at Leeds Metropolitan University in England before moving to New York to pursue further studies in acting.
Since then, Skarsgård has demonstrated remarkable range in his choice of roles, appearing in numerous acclaimed films and television productions. His credits include Lars von Trier’s Melancholia (2011), The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), The Legend of Tarzan (2016), and Robert Eggers’ The Northman (2022), co-written by Eggers and Icelandic author Sjón.

About Wicker
A fisherwoman lives on the fringes of a seaside village; she is unmarried, stinky, and constantly teased. One day, sick of her stuffy, narrow-minded neighbors, she orders a wicker husband for herself.
In this conservative community, such an unconventional liaison is bound to spark jealousy, outrage and upheaval.
Wicker is directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson and stars Alexander Skarsgård, Olivia Colman, Peter Dinklage, and Elizabeth Debicki in the leading roles.
