VENUES
HÁSKÓLABÍÓ
Hagatorgi, 107 Reykjavik
This venue has been a cornerstone of Reykjavik's cultural scene and has operated as a cinema since 1961. It also served as the main concert hall for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra until the inauguration of the Harpa Concert Hall in 2011.
For the festival, the venue will be beautifully redecorated to warmly welcome RIFF guests, all in keeping with the festival’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
THE NORDIC HOUSE
Sæmundargata 11, 102 Reykjavik
The Nordic House in Reykjavik is a well-known venue for Nordic art, culture, language, and public discussion close to the downtown of Reykjavík. The Nordic House was established in 1968 and has since maintained a crucial role in fostering cultural connections between Iceland and the other Nordic countries.
RIFF and the Nordic House have had a working relationship for many years and continue to work together to promote international cinema.
RIFF RECOMMENDS
In co-operation with our partners and sponsors, we highly recommend the following:
CANOPY - HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN REYKJAVÍK
A vibrant and stylish hotel in the heart of Reykjavík – the perfect place to relax and unwind during your stay in the city.
For seamless and reliable car rentals, Hertz is your go-to choice in Iceland.
The best way to explore Reykjavík! Hop on one of Hopp’s electric scooters for a fun and eco-friendly ride around the city and between venues.
The official festival bar this year! A trendy spot in Reykjavík offering delicious cocktails and a great atmosphere. Relax, mingle, and enjoy a refreshing drink while soaking up the festival vibe.
Elding Whale Watching offers the most talked-about whale watching and sea adventure tours in Iceland. With decades of experience, Elding provides responsible whale watching tours, year round.
RIFF's venues are located 5 minutes walking distance from each other on the University campus. Both venues are 15 minutes walking distance from the Reykjavík downtown area. To get to the cinema, you can use bus routes number 11 and 12, and can also use routes 1 and 3 to get to the University Campus, which is close by.
We also recommend traveling via an e-scooter from the downtown area to the cinema.
