Dear viewers, filmmakers, and partners big and small. We are extremely humbled and grateful for the great collaboration and reception at RIFF this year. The University Cinema was the center of RIFF, this historic building took on a new form as a beautiful café and bar with a cozy lounge. It was fun to watch the audience chat between screenings and to see a wide age range of guests coming together at the cinema.
The Nordic House, which previously served as a forum for various kinds of discussions, in addition to showing films and holding food events. Our goal at RIFF is to show brand new, high-quality films that would otherwise not come to the country and to create an experience. We choose films that matter and want to demonstrate the value of films as a force for developing our society for the better. We believe that we have succeeded. Attendance at exhibitions and events was at its best. We estimate that a total of over 25,000 people attended exhibitions in Reykjavík and abroad. Thousands of children and young people attended screenings organized by UngRIFF, which is held concurrently with RIFF in cinemas around the country.
Our Business Days and Talent Lab workshop went extremely well and was very well attended. The goal of business events is to showcase what is being done well in the film country of Iceland, discuss important business issues and strengthen connections between Icelanders and those who come to the country through us, which was about 200 people this year. We look forward to welcoming you next year.
