Most Icelanders know Gunnar Magnússon as one of the biggest names in Icelandic design history. His works and furniture have gained significant international attention, and he collaborated with some of Denmark’s foremost designers, such as Børge Mogensen. He also achieved great success in international design competitions in the 1960s. In 1964, he returned to Iceland with his family, where he founded his own design studio and spent four decades working on numerous projects for families and companies, including Hotel Holt, the Teachers’ College, Parliament, and banks.
