Terms and Conditions

Purchases & payments

All prices for products and tickets include VAT.
Products in our web store are the property of RIFF until they have been fully paid.
You can purchase products and tickets on this site using Visa or Mastercard credit cards. The service provider for this is Borgun ehf. Your credit card information will not be shared with a third party, including RIFF staff.

Please be sure to review your order before completing your purchase of tickets. Make sure that you have selected the right date, right area, right timing etc. RIFF is not able to change or refund your purchase after payment has been completed.

You are not allowed to sell your ticket for financial gain. Should RIFF become aware that you have sold your ticket for profit, it will be cancelled immediately and without notice.

In case of a cancellation of an event you will be offered a full refund. You may also be given the option to receive a ticket to a similar event.
RIFF reserves the right to postpone an event should unforeseen circumstances prevent the event from taking place at the original time and/or date. In this event, your ticket will automatically be transferred to the new time and/or date. Should you not be able to attend at the new time and/or date you can request a refund. Please note that RIFF may impose a time limit for refunds.
RIFF does not refund lost tickets.

All prices are quoted and charged in Icelandic Krona (ISK). The final amount in your local currency will depend on your credit card providers currency exchange rate as offered on the date of the transaction.

Return policy

Commercial products (T-shirts, posters etc.) bought in our web store can be returned in their original condition within 14 days. Used products can not be returned. If this applies, then a full refund will be issued. The refund is issued once we have the product with us. Postage and handling fees can not be refunded.
Tickets, passes and coupon cards and submission/confirmation fees can not be refunded.

Submission fees are service fees paid to RIFF and are used to cover cost of reviewing and handling of applications to the festival.
Confirmation fees apply for various projects and are used to cover costs that occur in the planning process of the projects. These costs are bound by the number of people attending so it’s non refundable.


All products will be shipped within 5 days of purchase if that option has been chosen. You are also welcome to come by our office between the hours of 11 and 16 to pick up your product. Festival passes and coupon cards can be picked up five working days prior the festival starts.


We respect your privacy. RIFF does not share personal information or credit card information with third parties. All data will be handled as confidential information.
RIFF works in accordance to GDPR law in Iceland. You can find a link to RIFF’s privacy policy on the front page of RIFF’s website.


Once your transaction has been verified, you’ll receive an email with the receipt. Please present that receipt when picking up your product. If you are purchasing single tickets to screenings you’ll also receive an e-ticket that is valid at the door of the cinema.

On location / Events

Some events will be held in locations that serve alcohol and therefore their access by minors is restricted by law. By law, a person under the age of 18  is not allowed to attend a facility that serves alcohol after 20:00 (8:00 PM) unless accompanied by a custodian. RIFF reserves the right to restrict access by age even further than set by law. In such cases the age limit will override the terms set forward in RIFF’s terms and conditions.

Neither RIFF nor an event holder is responsible for the ticket holders or his companions personal belongings.

Governing law / Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are in accordance with Icelandic law and regulations and are therefore subject to Icelandic jurisdiction in the event that disputes may arise.
