Dutch Focus

The Dutch film industry, despite its relatively small size, has made a definitive impact on the medium’s history. Renowned for a rich documentary tradition, it took its form in the 50s and 60s with the films of Joris Ivens and Bert Haansra and others. The 70s were a blooming period in Dutch cinema history and marked the uprising of the country’s most known auteur, Paul Verhoeven (Turkish Delight, Robocop, Elle). In this section, the aim is to provide a cross section of diverse and interesting titles of contemporary Dutch cinema.
