Reykjavik International Film Festival

About Nordic S.o.S

Nordic Sound on Sight and You Are In Control

Nordic Sound on Sight market is a co-operational project together with the international conference You Are In Control. The  conference has run for two years and prides itself on a cutting edge debate about the future of digital business as well as defining the opportunties that latest developments bring. This year You Are In Control takes place 23rd and 24th September 2009.

Introduction

Recent film productions show that music is becoming more and more important within films and that the demand for and the popularity of music-focused films is rising. “Dancer in the Dark”, “Control”, “Walk the Line” or “Mamma Mia” are just a few examples which prove that the division between the music industry and the film industry is dissolving – for good, as the artistic as well as commercial success confirms.

Aware of this deep trend, the Reykjavik International Film Festival is launching its Nordic Sound on Sight focus within the program of this year’s festival. On the one hand, a category of the festival’s screening program will exclusively be dedicated to music related films, on the other hand a music-driven film market will be held. Furthermore, Nordic Sound on Sight cooperates with the international conference “You are in control”, organized by the Icelandic Music Export IMX.
