ALÞJÓÐLEG KVIKMYNDAHÁTÍÐ Í REYKJAVÍK

25. september - 5. október 2025

"Participating in RIFF has won a special place in my list of memories. Blondie's trip to Havana, beautifully filmed by director Rob Roth, was shown at the festival and Rob and I were given a chance to visit Iceland as well! We were thrilled to meet other filmmakers and treated to a special tour of a truly unique place, the land of fire and ice. It was a singularly memorable treat to have a film included at RIFF!”

"There’s nothing like being surrounded by the talent and creativity at RIFF. I left with such a sense of inspiration, and just energized to return in the future. From the energy of the crowds, to the dinners and events, to the vast and wonderful films being screened, RIFF gave me an experience far beyond your ordinary film festival. I left inspired and enthusiastic for what is to come, and cannot wait to return. RIFF is a place that actually cares about its filmmakers. They understand that making movies is about so much more than just screening films - it is community, exchange of ideas, and providing the atmosphere for creativity. Simply put: I left inspired and cannot wait to come back."

“People were telling me: ‘In Iceland you will feel as if you are on the moon.’ So I went there and discovered that compared to Iceland the moon is boring. And to see movies there was really special. Thank you.’”

"Excellent films, inspiring people, spectacular nature and a lot of fun. That was RIFF 2021. I cant wait to return to Iceland."

My experience at the Reykjavik International FIlm Festival was fantastic. It is an unusual place (to say the least) and the people are gracious, respectful and also a little wild - a great combination in my opinion. I am very happy to have had this experience and to have met so many cool people interested in films, music, literature, elves, and the many mysteries of human nature. Thank you!

"RIFF skipar fastan sess í menningarlífi þjóðarinnar og er ein af birtingamyndum þess mikla krafts sem býr í kvikmyndamenningu á Íslandi. Heimur kvikmyndanna er alþjóðlegur og margbreytilegur, eins og RIFF varpar svo vel Ijósi á."

"RIFF has mastered the art of niche branding, leaning heavily into Iceland’s cultural landscape to shape both programming and attendee experiences. [...] By celebrating Iceland’s distinct identity, RIFF not only creates an unforgettable experience but also solidifies itself as a must-attend event on the international film festival circuit."

“Here in Iceland, film has to go that extra mile in order to not pale in comparison with the natural phenomena here. They have to compete with massive and mesmerizing waterfalls, soaring geysers, waddling puffin, mysteriously steaming springs, and the alluring songs of the whales. But the Icelanders have enough energy for both.”

"RIFF turned out to be as fantastic as one could hope. What sets RIFF apart from the other so-called “B-festivals” are its unique location, a specific take on programming, and some remarkable guests of honour.

"This year, RIFF could have been called the festival of amazing women in film.“

"Until such time as someone establishes a chance to watch movies on the moon, the Reykjavik Intl. Film Festival looks to be the next best thing.“

"Despite its tiny population, Iceland is an annual host for one of the more interesting film festivals around, the Reykjavik International Film Festival."

"The festival has created a niche for itself attracting the finest new talent from around the world."

“Reykjavík is a fabulous film festival and a fabulous town in a fabulous country. And if you ever get a chance to visit any or all of the three, seriously go out of your way. The festival is remarkably intimate and well-organized, and gives you the perfect summer camp vibe that only the best smaller film festivals pull off.”

"RIFF brings a much-needed breath of fresh air to the film industry by successfully celebrating diversity, valuing innovation and bringing impactful and thought-provoking stories to the forefront. I am grateful to have contributed to such an inclusive and dynamic festival and helped get us a step closer to a brighter future for cinema."
